Depression
We treat our patients with therapy, antidepressant medications and Electroconvulsive therapy (Shock treatment) if there is a need.
Depression is a serious mental health condition characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and disinterest in activities that were once enjoyed. It goes beyond the normal fluctuations in mood that everyone experiences and can significantly impair daily functioning, relationships, and overall quality of life. Depression is one of the most common mental health disorders globally, affecting people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life.
Depression can impact cognitive functioning, leading to negative thinking patterns, self-criticism, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, and difficulty concentrating or making decisions. Individuals may have trouble remembering details, experience mental fog, or have a pessimistic outlook on life. Depression can manifest in physical symptoms such as fatigue, changes in appetite or weight, sleep disturbances (insomnia or hypersomnia), headaches, digestive issues, or unexplained aches and pains. These physical symptoms are not attributable to a medical condition but are instead a manifestation of the underlying depressive disorder.
